CASA EMMA

Our vineyards

At the heart of Chianti Classico territory, at an altitude of 420m above sea level, the vineyards of Casa Emma are a classic example of the charms of the Chianti countryside.
The particular attention paid to the terroir allows Casa Emma to offer an authoritative range of Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva and Soloìo (single grape Super-Tuscan Merlot).
Casa Emma grows a number of “non-local” grape varieties, such as Merlot or other more traditional varieties such as Malvasia and Canaiolo, but the principal variety used is Sangiovese, one of the oldest Italian grape varieties forming the very foundation of traditional Chianti and Chianti Classico wines.

The majority of Casa Emma’s vineyards are dedicated to production of the Sangiovese grape.

Casa Emma and its vineyards

The majority of Casa Emma’s vineyards are dedicated to production of the Sangiovese grape.
At the very heart of the relationship between Casa Emma and its vineyards, following ancient tradition, is what we might interpret as attention and respect for the genius loci (mas sive sive foemina), which was believed to be the protective spirit (genius) of a place (loci) inhabited and frequented by man; a supernatural being which, according to Roman beliefs, oversaw the natural balance and harmony of the place it guarded

Respect for the land combines Casa Emma and its vineyards in a relationship of balance and harmony
